Importance of Exercise!


After a weekend of indulging in chocolate, now is a great time to look at your exercise routine and lock in some habits for the rest of the year.

It is widely known that there are numerous benefits of exercise, including stimulating circulation, thereby bringing oxygen and nutrients to the skin and clearing pores, improving mental alertness and increasing mood, increasing muscle tone, which accelerates metabolism, reducing blood pressure, and preserving bone mineral density to reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

The Australian Physical Activity Guidelines suggest being active on most, preferably all, days of the week, accumulating 150-300 minutes of moderate intensity exercise, and including muscle strengthening activities on at least 2 days of the week. Remember that some activity is better than none, so why not try something new or get involved in an activity that you love – try a game of tennis, adult dancing classes, or catching up with a friend for a walk or hike around some of our amazing walking tracks in the Toowoomba area.
