Steamed Broccoli with Chilli, Lemon and Almonds
Health-promoting broccoli as a low-cal meal
- 100g tenderstem broccoli
- Squeeze of lemon
- Pinch of chilli flakes
- 2 tbsp flaked toasted almonds
- Steam broccoli and dress with lemon juice, chilli flakes and almonds.

This way broccoli can be served as a low-cal lunch or as a side-dish for dinner on a low-cal day. Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable full of important sulphur and organosulphur compounds. Sulphur is an essential ingredient for the production of glutathione, one of our innate anti-oxidants. Sulphur is also needed to produce to other amino acids important for liver detoxification, methionine and taurine. Almonds are a particularly healthy nut, reducing cholesterol especially LDL. Chilli increases metabolism and lemon juice stimulates the digestion.
